Thanksgiving from Southern California

THanksgiving.jpg

Only in Southern California can you wear shorts and flip flops to Thanksgiving Dinner…or should I say “Supper”?  I get them confused…or maybe they are the same.  Pretty sure there was a time that it was explained to me and there is a difference.  Anyway,  my family has their holiday meals toward the middle of the day.

And I digress…the point is that it was downright hot today.  90 degrees in the shade in Menifee (or Sun City depending on which person you ask).  I think there are places out there where the snow is already falling and the temperatures have cooled quite a bit.  Here we are still wearing sunscreen and getting pedicures!  Some might call it a blessing to have such beautiful weather all the time and I would have to agree.  Weather rarely keeps us from doing pretty much anything we want.  Except for wearing holiday sweaters…there were none of those today.

I enjoyed my day with family and promised myself that I would not work.  I even left my cell phone at home to prove the point.  It was nice.  I have lots of people that I love and lots of people that love me.  I am so grateful for that.

Hopefully you had a lovely Thanksgiving Day as well and that your heart is full of gratitude this evening.  Mine is overflowing.

From our home to yours…good night!  April and Gary Greer

SoCal Honda Dealers Honor Teacher Appreciation Week 2014

teacher

WHAT:

“A Teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.” –Henry Adams

As teachers continue to face school budget cuts and are forced to make do with limited resources, Teacher Appreciation has more meaning than ever in Southern California.   In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, May 5-9, 2014, the SoCal Honda Dealers and the Guys in Blue will once again be celebrating the efforts of five deserving school teachers and role models who go above and beyond to ensure their students have an unforgettable, meaningful school experience, and whose impact goes well beyond the classroom.

The Helpful Honda teams will surprise winning teachers in their classroom or during a school assembly throughout the week in Huntington Park, Carson, Anaheim, Granada Hills and San Bernardino. Based on the teacher’s unique strengths and academic efforts, each winner will be presented with much needed technology, art supplies, reading materials and more, to help them further their high-impact Helpfulness in classrooms.

Residents can discover the winners on facebook  at https://www.facebook.com/SoCalHondaDealers and check out

WHY:

Celebrating teachers who make a difference is one of many ways the SoCal Honda Dealers are giving back to communities across Southern California and continuing their commitment to helpfulness. Since January, the Guys in Blue have: surprised thousands of residents with complimentary roses on Valentine’s Day; volunteered with numerous organizations such as blood donation centers and food banks to be Helpful After the Holidays; helped over 250 four-legged friends find two-legged ones with Helpful Honda Pet Adoption events across Southern California, and more. Residents have likely also spotted Blue Shirts around their community doing other acts of helpfulness – such as cleaning up local parks and beaches, helping people carry their groceries, providing umbrella escorts and handing out water, tissues and chapstick. To-date, Helpful Honda has visited over 11,000 locations to lend a hand to residents in the most unexpected ways … It’s really their job to be Helpful!
